The Lamaze technique began as a pain coping breathing technique developed in the 1950s by a French obstetrician named Fernand Lamaze.
Since then, Lamaze has evolved to focus on labor and birth as a natural event, teaching parents how to be informed, confident, and prepared for their birth experiences.
Lamaze operates on the Six Healthy Birth Practices which are evidence-based guideposts that highlight what research shows has the healthiest outcomes for mother and baby.

Healthy Birth Practice 1: Let labor begin on its own.
Healthy Birth Practice 2: Walk, move around and change positions throughout labor.
Healthy Birth Practice 3: Bring a loved one, friend or doula for continuous support.

No! This class is for parents planning births in all locations, with or without pain medication.
Lamaze supports that birth can safely take place in homes, birth centers, and hospitals.
For those planning a hospital birth, we will spend time covering what to expect when giving birth in a hospital, how to navigate medical interventions, and tools for informed decision-making. We will also cover advocacy, communicating with your care team, and building a birth plan.
For those planning a home/birth center birth, we will cover unmedicated birth comfort measures and coping techniques. We will also spend a lot of our time focusing on the normal process of labor so you feel prepared in what to expect.

I would recommend my 4-week series for first-time parents and those who want to get a more comprehensive experience.
If you’ve given birth before and just want a refresher, I would recommend the one-day intensive.
To get a more personalized experience, consider the private classes!

The 4-week Series is $350 and the 1-day Intensive is $250
Private classes are $400.
Note: A $50 deposit is required to save your seat!
I offer flexible and individualized payment plans to support the individual needs of each family.

Most classes given at the hospital only teach to whatever the specifics of that hospital are. This can result in the classes being very biased, as well as focusing heavily on medical interventions.
By taking a class like Sunset Glow, you will get an unbiased perspective as well as a more comprehensive and in-depth course covering normal physiologic birth, non-medical pain relief, positions, movement, partner support, and more.

While it’s IDEAL for all families who sign up for the 4-week series to attend every week, I understand that life happens.
If you end up missing a class for an unexpected reason, I will schedule a private make-up class time supplemented with additional videos/online resources.
